Just Something

I've been waiting,
Maybe longer than anyone here,
For something to happen.
Anything.
Just something.
For 20 years,
Longer than I've been around,
Others have been waiting too,
Now I carry on that tradition.
But finally,
Something is being done.
No more waiting.
I want this,
They need it.
What's left to be said?

Someone help me,
I'm calling out,
Can't you hear me?!
Don't leave me here-
Wait,
Nevermind.
I'm the one leaving.
It's hard to remember
Something you don't want to.
Especially when it isn't
Just something.

Newton

Newton.
One trip.
Coming from seven letters.
And five fingers, upon which the stress was taken out on.
Newton.
If you add seven and five, you get 12.
Take away the one,
And you're left with
Two.
Two people who know it's for the best,
Two people who want this,
Who need this.
Newton.
A chance for new life.
A new high school.
Different people.
My story will never change,
It will always remain told
To the people here.
I've already
Flashbacked
For so many.
For all those that can relate to me here.
Can I flashback some more times?
Perhaps I can,
But it won't matter.
No one can relate
Or understand
The way they do here.
The hiding,
The horror,
The silenced sceams,
They've been through it all.
How many others have been?
Newton.
The change I need,
For a second chance
Before this story is
Read over
And over again
Eventually without emotion.
Newton.
A dead-end street,
Useful for long walks on those
Tough days.
And now I'm starting to hear
It.
Now Newton is calling to
Me.

Not Just Me

"There's a girl in the corner
With tear stains on her eyes"
Are those your eyes too,
Or just mine?
"She says, 'How did I get here?
I'm not who I once was"
Have you changed too,
Or just me?
"Well she tries to believe it
That she's been given new life"
Are you trying to believe your life too,
Or just me?
"She'll try to do better
But then she's too weak to try"
Do you ever feel weak,
Or just me?
"You are more than the choices that you've made,
You are more than the sum of your past mistakes"
This is true for you too,
It isn't just me.

The Beast of Everyday

The beast begins attacking,
Growling, snarling, bursting your eardrums.
You try to run, but there's no where to run to,
You can only back against the cool wall of the dark cave.

No one is there to help you, release you, or take away the pain.
You are on your own and your life is up to you.
You claw at the beast, hoping to make it bleed,
Surprised by your sudden attack it stumbles back and allows silence to fill the cave again.

All too soon the beast starts up again, now taking you by surprise.
But this time, you know you'll escape that cave.
You hit the beast with all your might, all you have in you, and this time you do some damage.
It can no longer cry out, and you escape the cave, entering a world filled with pinks and purples.

You breathe in fresh, crisp air, feeling weak and run down because of the fight you put up.
You know you must keep going on, and explore this world,
For this world is your kingdom and it has much to offer.
And you must cherish all of it, for it won't be around forever.

The beast has helped you appreciate this world,
Rather than that dark cave you could hide in all day.
Nothing could be better than knowing you have all this to wake up to,
For it is all of this which makes waking up worthwhile,
So you can rule your kingdom and just imagine
That imagination is a Monday morning alarm clock.

Superman

What can you do
When enough isn't enough?
And all you do seems to count for nothing,
When your life just starts twisting and turning,
Spiraling into nothingness

All is right with the world one moment,
But the next is a ngihtmare.
The next morning you wake up,
With dried tear stains and the bright reds of the sunrise outside your window
You have a thought that maybe the sun will shine all day long,
But naturally that one storm, that dark cloud
Comes your way and blocks out the sun,
Then the lightning bolt strikes.

The ocean fills the space around you
You forget how to swim, how to breathe
And you start drowning.
You're praying it's a dream, crying out
But you don't wake up.
It isn't a dream.

You cry, they laugh
You tell them, they just say it could be worse
You show them, they say that's nasty
So then what? What comes next?
There isn't any starting over, no rewind,
No second chance

The world keeps spinning,
Maybe yours spins faster, maybe slower
As long as it keeps spinning
You'll be okay.
But sometimes it stops and starts to fall
And you just aren't strong enough to lift it up again.
You can't do it all,
You aren't Superman.
Nor will you ever be.

The Chain

Seeing my words doesn't mean you have to read them,
You shouldn't say what you see written there,
But rather you should say your words that come from mine.

No two pages look alike,
No two sentences sound alike.
We all have our own voice, our own thoughts flooding our minds
Once we have an idea, we just keep going, just keep talking
Because the clock keeps ticking, one second turns into an hour, one hour into a week
And before you know it, your voice is gone
And you can no longer be heard

But what is left? Your words, the words that can be shown to everyone
And read by everyone
That won't get across a meaning though,
Not the reason either,
What you need your words to bring are thoughts,
Thoughts that someone else can turn into words

Do you know how to make a difference with your words?
Can you save a life through your pen?
There's many who can,
And a lot who can't.
If your words don't turn into someone else's,
What good are they?
What can they be used for?

Do you know what it's like to rely solely on the words you see, the lyrics, the stories, the thoughts
Despite what you hear?
Because for some, only seeing is believing
And just believing that everyone has words that can make a difference
Then others can possibly save a life by using their words.
And by witnessing this chain you can then understand the difference between seeing words and hearing them
